American basketball player AJ Dybantsa maintains his position as the consensus No. 1 overall men’s basketball prospect in the 2026 class and could potentially receive an NIL deal package worth $4.5 million.

The basketball star has been playing high school basketball at Utah Prep in Hurricane, Utah, after transferring there for the 2026-25 season.

During the recent Border League, NBA scouts and college coaches observed from courtside as Dybantsa led his Utah Prep team to victory.

With his performance this month, AJ has garnered significant attention from top recruiters, making him one of the most anticipated players.

Further, the internet has been buzzing about his game, showcasing the intensity that a future collegiate matchup could bring.

BYU has expressed interest in AJ and is unlikely to let financial considerations stand in the way.

As previously noted, Egor Demin, a 5-star recruit from BYU, signed a lucrative $1.5 million NIL deal, leading fans to suspect that the stakes have increased significantly with AJ.

The basketball star has been offered deals from 29 schools and has visited seven of them, including BYU, Alabama, North Carolina, Kansas, Kansas State, Auburn, and USC.

While Dybantsa has received interest from multiple schools, his recent visit to BYU speaks volumes about his potential priorities.

Despite strong efforts from Kentucky and other schools, BYU appears to be AJ’s favorite due to its financial backing and partly because it is closer to his home of Utah.

Furthermore, according to On3’s latest recruiting predictions, BYU is way ahead at 68.9%, with Kansas State second at 13.4%.
