Koby Hunter, a former Boerne High School football and basketball player, lost his life at the young age of 21 in a tragic snowboarding accident.
Koby Hunter, a resident of Boerne, Texas, around 11 a.m. Saturday at Angel Fire Resort in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the Southern Rockies.
Koby was an exceptional high school athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball, playing for the Boerne Varsity team, Greyhounds.
Moreover, Boerne Independent School District Athletics of their former star athlete and expressed their heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
Hunter’s family and loved ones are devastated by his untimely demise. He was known not only for his amazing sports skills but also for his kind and humble nature.
On behalf of the Hunter family, Koby Hunter’s maternal aunt Kayla Kohls Rathmann shared a post on her Facebook stating,
“At the request of my sister, Kaci, she wanted me to let everyone know that Koby succumbed to his injuries. We are all heartbroken and devastated. My beautiful sister is living my worst nightmare. Please keep her and all the family in your prayers. Thank you to everyone who prayed this morning.💔😔”
He by his mother, Kaci Kohls Hunter, three siblings, kade, Kaylee James, and Kyra Hunter, and a sister-in-law, London Rhee, and the whole family. Information about his father is not publicly available.
In addition to his family, left to cherish Koby Hunter’s life are her longtime girlfriend, Eleanor Stokes, and her parents.
Koby Hunter And Girlfriend Eleanor Stokes Were High School Sweethearts!
The late Koby Hunter first met his girlfriend, Eleanor Stokes, while attending Boerne High School, and they were together until the tragic accident took Hunter’s life.
The couple often shared glimpses of their romantic and adventurous life on social media, expressing love for each other.
Both Koby and Eleanor graduated from Boerne High School in the same year. While Hunter excelled in basketball and football, Eleanor showcased her exceptional Tennis Skills.
Eleanor Stokes won several for his contribution to sports while attending Boerne High School.
While Hunter’s sports career was tragically cut short, Eleanor continues pursuing her passion for tennis, playing for Texas A&M University’s team.
In addition to tennis, she is also on the water ski team and is pursuing her bachelor of degree in biomedical sciences at Texas A&M University.
Moreover, Koby Hunter’s girlfriend, Eleanor Stokes, has been serving as the Tennis Instructor at Philips Events Center 2026.
Talking about her personal life, Eleanor Stokes was born in Boerne, Texas, to parents Allison Stern Stokes and Jim Stokes.
Eleanor has three siblings: a sister, Georgia, and two younger brothers.
Her mother, Allison Stern Stokes, took to her Facebook to express her sorrow on the tragic demise of Koby Hunter.
She wrote,
“So many wonderful memories with this young man. Koby, you were a part of our family. Eleanor loved you dearly, Georgia tolerated you joking with her (but she loved you too), and the boys worshiped you. Jim and I saw so much potential in you and were so proud of your accomplishments. Mimi, Ghee, and Papaw adored you too. We will hold so many memories close to our hearts. We are just at a loss for words and so heartbroken 💔When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!
Please pray for his precious mama, Kaci Kohls Hunter, and his family.”
While very little information about her mother Allison’s profession is available, her father, Jim Stokes, has been a Corporate Pilot at DV Aviation since November 2026.
Prior to his , Jim served as the pilot of Sunoco LP, Director of aviation of NuStar Energy LP, Captain of Valelor Energy Corporation, and Chief Pilot of The Scooter Store.
Jim Stokes earned his bachelor of arts degree with a major in advertising from Texas Tech University in 1997.
