Aylmer Hockey Community Mourns The Loss of U18 Coach Christopher “Leny” Lenehan

The Aylmer Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) is grieving the loss of U18 Coach Christopher “Leny” Lenehan, who passed away on February 9, 2026, in his 50th year.
On February 12, the Aylmer Flames officially announced on Facebook that they were expressing their deepest condolences to the Lenehan family and loved ones.
The AMHA has offered support to the U18 Red Team, the Lenehan family, and anyone else within the organization who may need it.
They also thanked the Lambton Middlesex Local League for canceling a scheduled game immediately.
The association admires the courage of the players and families who, despite their shared loss, will continue to play in Leny’s memory at a tournament this weekend.
Understanding that grief affects everyone differently, the AMHA encourages all to seek support and heal in their way.
The AMHA Board has provided crisis hotlines for those seeking additional support, including crisis intervention and mental health services.
Beyond Coaching, Chris Cherished Quality Time With Family And Laughter With Friends
Christopher ‘Leny” Lenehan was born in London, Ontario, on September 6, 1975.
Christopher worked at Tricar Group in London and was an avid NASCAR and London Knights fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle (Demelo) Lenehan, and their devoted children, Riley, Corey, and Tegan.
His greatest joy was his family, along with spending time with his friends. Chris coached in the Aylmer Minor Hockey League for over 12 years.
Following his passing, his family shared a heartfelt message on Facebook,
with his son Riley commenting,
“I’ll always love you dad, I wish I had spent more time with you”

Chris was more than just a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration to countless young athletes, families, and members of the hockey community.
Lenehan saw potential in every player, offering encouragement, guidance, and praise.

Many who knew him have taken to social media to share their condolences and memories.
Bill Connolly, a friend from Hillcrest Public School, shared a touching tribute:
“My condolences to you Michelle your family and Mr. and Mrs. Lenehan. Chris and I met at Hillcrest Public School and we quickly became friends and regulars at each other’s house. Although we had very different tastes in music, we had a lot of good times. We lost touch when I moved away, but I will always remember what a great friend he was.

ViaThe North Middlesex District Minor Hockey Association also expressed their condolences, stating:
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the on the passing of Coach Chris ‘Leny’ Lenehan. Coach Chris was the head coach of the U18 Red Team.
Our U18s played him and his team last week. During that game, Coach Chris led his team with passion, and the Aylmer players showcased both skill and deep respect for the game.”
Chris’s passing is a loss for his family and the entire community. The AMHA, its players, parents, and the many lives he touched will forever feel his absence.
His legacy will live on through the athletes he coached, and his influence will continue to shape the AMHA for years.
Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home in Aylmer on Thursday, February 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
His life will be celebrated at the East Elgin Community Complex on Saturday, February 22, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Aylmer Minor Hockey Association (AMHA).
