Greg Haugen, a former three-time world champion boxer, passed away at the age of 64 after a battle with renal cancer on Saturday, February 22, 2026.
The legendary boxer left behind his four children, sons Layne and Brady Haugen, and daughters Jasmine and Cassandra Haugen. Nonetheless, the details of his kids’ biological mothers remain unknown.
On top of that, Haugen was tight-lipped about his marital status; hence, it is unknown if he was ever married.
In a photo he shared in 2018, Haugen had responded to a comment about his children’s well-being, stating,
my boys yes with all 4 of them doing well not in jail or trouble iam a lucky dad seeing how 3 of them didn,t have a mother much in there lives.
Therefore, it seems his children’s mother or partner wasn’t significantly involved in their upbringing. However, it is unclear whether she passed away or if they separated.
Besides this, the coveted boxer never acknowledged his relationship status in the media.
Boxer Greg Haugen Is Survived by Four Kids and Five Grandchildren!
Greg Haugen first experienced parenthood after his firstborn daughter, , was born in 1980. Three years later, he welcomed his daughter Cassandra in 1983.
The boxer then ticked the blue mark on his parenthood with the arrival of his son in 1989. After six years, his youngest son Layne was born in 1995.
Unlike many boxing legends, Greg didn’t want his kids to be around the fights. He wanted them to see him as a Dad and lead a normal life rather than a boxing star.
He had always been supportive of his kids’ passion, and the kids also reciprocated respect and love for him.
He consistently encouraged his children’s interests, and they, in turn, showed him respect and love.
“When he was fighting, boxing was a gladiator sport, but it is definitely not like it is now. He fought so many tough guys, so many great fighters. And people remember him for that toughness, but I remember what a wonderful and special man he was,” daughter Cassandra spoke highly of him.
Reportedly, Greg Haugen had been ill for quite some time; however, his health started deteriorating more in the last several months.
Daughter Cassandra said about his declining health after his passing,
Over the last few months, he started to get more ill. He definitely was a fighter. He’s one of the toughest men I know and he fought hard. His spirits were good and he had his wits about him. He was my Dad right up until the end. He fought so hard but unfortunately [on Saturday], the Champ fought his final round.
In addition to his four children, Haugen also left behind his five grandchildren.
Cassandra said that his funeral services are private, with the possibility of a public memorial service in the future for his fans; however, that has yet to be scheduled.
