Jordi Fernández, the Spanish professional basketball coach, shares a family life with his wife, Kelsie, and their two daughters.
Born on December 27, 1982, in Badalona, Spain, Fernández began his coaching career at the age of 15, engaging with youth basketball teams in his hometown and later expanding his experience across Europe.
By 2006, he had moved to Las Vegas to join the coaching staff at Impact Basketball Academy.
His NBA journey began in 2009 when the Cleveland Cavaliers recruited him as a player development coach, a role in which he contributed to the development of young talents like and Tristan Thompson.
In 2013, his career took a significant step forward when he joined the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League as an assistant coach, quickly rising to become the head coach.
Later, in the 2016-17 season, the Denver Nuggets recognized his talent, adding him to their coaching staff as an assistant coach, where he stayed until 2026.
The Sacramento Kings appointed him as associate head coach in August 2026, further solidifying his reputation in the NBA.
His abilities and leadership were undeniable, leading to his appointment as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets on April 22, 2026.
Throughout his career, Fernández has been praised for his ability to connect with players and his extensive international and NBA coaching experience, positioning him as a respected figure in basketball coaching circles.

He his wife when he was starting his NBA coaching career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Their relationship developed during his tenure as a player development coach, a role he continued even after the head coach, Mike Brown, was dismissed.
The couple formed a strong bond early on and has been together through various phases of Jordi’s coaching journey, from Cleveland to Brooklyn.
Mike Brown, the Kings head coach, has praised Jordi, saying:
He’s an amazing person, he’s got a beautiful, amazing wife in Kelsey, and two beautiful kids. He’s ready for anything. He’s ready for any head job in the NBA. So whoever gets him would definitely be very, very lucky to have him as their head coach.
ViaFollowing his appointment as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in April 2026, Jordi and his family relocated from their spacious five-bedroom house in Sacramento, where they had resided since 2026.
They sold this home for about $1.47 million.
The move proved emotionally challenging for the family, as Matthew Hindy, a representative for several Kings players and staff, remarked:
He and his wife, they really loved the home. They were extremely happy there, so they were really sad to see the home go. Some people don’t get emotionally attached, especially people in their business, because they don’t know how long they’re going to be there, but they’ve had so many events and gatherings there with coaches and other assistant coaches and members of the team. It was very emotional for them to sell that house.

Jordi’s first NBA win with the Brooklyn Nets was a landmark moment, by his wife, children, parents, friends, and extended family.
Respecting his wife’s preference not to include sports memorabilia in their home decor, Jordi chose to display the game ball from this victory in his office instead.
This reflects Kelsey’s flair as a decor enthusiast with a keen eye for creating a beautifully styled and harmonious home.
Her unwavering encouragement and dedication to their family have been instrumental in helping him succeed in his demanding coaching career.
Together, Jordi and Kelsey are proud parents of two children, Bowie and Lluna, and their American Boxer dog, Eddie, named after the famed Ohio State running back and Heisman Trophy winner, Eddie George.
The family shares a close bond, with Jordi often publicly gratitude towards his wife for her support.
Now residing in Brooklyn, they are happily embracing their new chapter together.
Kelsey, originally from Rocky River, Ohio, is American by nationality and a country music and Buckeye fan.
