Chandler Stephenson’s brother, Colton Stephenson, is a personal trainer and a former hockey player. Colton is two years older than his little brother.

The two brothers, Colton and Chandler, grew up dreaming about winning the Stanley Cup together. But the dream came crashing down when Colton had to retire from the game at age 19.

It was a difficult pill for Colton to swallow. But he is living the dream through his brother, who has now been crowned the Stanley Cup champion twice in his nine-year career.

Chandler’s first NHL trophy came with Washington Capitals in 2018, beating his current side 4-3.

Now, with Vegas Golden Knights’ teammates , , and captain , Stephenson lifted his second title in the 2026 Stanely Cup Finals.

Chandler Stephenson’s brother, Colton Stephenson, is a former hockey player, having played in the Western Hockey League with Edmonton Oil Kings.

The two brothers have an age gap of 22 months, Colton being the senior.

The latter was more than passionate about hockey, but his career in the rink never took off. But it wasn’t something he could control.

A series of concussions from age 16 had its grip on Colton.

It started when he took an elbow to the temple, then a second came in two weeks later, followed by a third. The second and third concussions ended his seasons.

In his last season with Edmonton Oilers, Colton suffered from two more concussions, and then at age 19, he decided to quit the game.

In his with Global News in 2026, Colton didn’t hide the fact that it was difficult to move on from his childhood dream. A dream he had seen together with his brother, and only one was going to achieve it.

But since retiring from hockey, Colton has decided if he can’t become a hockey player, he will help others to be one.

After graduating with a degree in kinesiology from the University of Saskatoon, he had been working as a trainer with Counter Move Hockey.

Chandler Stephenson’s parents, Curt and Bev Stephenson, raised two sons in Saskatoon, Canada.

Curt Stephenson runs a scrap yard in Saskatoon, but it is his cooking skill the father of two is more famously known for among NHL players.

In his with The Athletic, Curt boasted about his culinary skills, with his famous dish being Curt Ribs.

He passed on a few of those cooking skills to his son, who uses those recipes whenever he has to cook for his teammates.

The NHL dream wasn’t something Chandler Stephenson was forced on by his parents. It came naturally to him. His mother confirmed it in her interview with .

Bev also complimented the coaches who helped him reach the position he is in today. In 2018, when Chandler won the Stanley Cup with the Washinton Capitals, Bev showed how athletic she was with her handstand.

Standing vertically, supported by her two sons, Bev drank from the prestigious cup.

Chandler’s grandmother also drank from the up at their private party, not missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime moment. But the Stephensons are a lucky family that they now have witnessed their son winning the trophy twice.
