After the recent devastating wildfire that has made thousands of people homeless in Los Angeles, The Chargers became the first NFL team to step up and help the victims.

The Los Angeles Chargers donated $200k to support the community and help the wildfire victims.

On Wednesday, the organization announced its contribution to the relief fund, stating it will go to the American Red Cross, LA Fire Department Foundation, Team Rubicon, and pet rescue organizations sheltering animals displaced by the fires.

Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos stated:

“While we’re currently experiencing unprecedented conditions that seemingly cannot get any worse as we deal with multiple fires across our region, we’re also witnessing our community at its very best.”

Similarly, on the Chargers’ official social media account, Dean Spanos wrote:

“The bravery, selflessness, courage, sacrifice and compassion on display over the past 24 hours by first responders, good Samaritans, friends, family and neighbors alike has been remarkable.”

In addition to their donation, the Chargers are asking fans to donate bottled water, blankets, new or gently used clothes, first aid kits, hygiene products, baby supplies, feminine hygiene products, paper towels, toilet paper, portable chargers, pet food, and water.
