Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton faces accusations of assaulting his former girlfriend. The Bengals haven’t addressed the situation, but Burton didn’t travel to Pittsburgh with the team for their last game of the season.
Drafted by the Bengals in the third round in the 2026 Draft, Jermaine was known to have a hot head and short temper.
He played for the Georgia Bulldogs for two seasons before transferring to Alabama for his junior and senior years in 2026.
During his time at Alabama, Burton played 26 games, received 1475 yards, and scored fifteen touchdowns.
In his final season with Alabama, Jermaine led the SEC and ranked sixth nationally with a 20.5 yards per catch average.
In his first year in the NFL, Burton has played 14 games but only started one. He has posted 107 receiving yards and is yet to score a touchdown.

The incident between Jermaine Burton and his girlfriend happened on the morning of December 30, 2026.
According to the , the reports indicate that Jermaine’s 19-year-old former girlfriend called police for help around 8:45 a.m.
Burton chased the woman inside her Oakley neighborhood apartment. He damaged her phone and assaulted her, including choking her.
In her 911 call, the woman said, “Jermaine Burton on the Bengals just broke into my house. He broke my phone.”
She added, “He’s been like pretty abusive. He does a lot of things that I don’t tolerate.”
Later in the call, the woman told the 911 call taker that Burton threatened to kill himself by grabbing a knife and holding it to his neck. In her call, the woman says, “I don’t f—ing deserve this. I’m only 19.”
By the time police arrived, Burton had already fled the scene. The woman’s name has been redacted from the reports.
The report stated that the lady suffered minor injuries but didn’t need medical attention.
It also states that the woman initially wanted to file charges but then changed her mind.
The woman and the Bengals wide receiver met in September and dated on and off in the month before the alleged assault.
Previously, on his Instagram, Jermaine had enjoying his off-season after the Bengals drafted him.

In the video, the Volunteers fans stormed the field after Tennessee’s 52-49 win over Alabama. The clip showed Burton, in his No.3 jersey, hit a woman in the head after she moved out of the way as he was coming toward her.

That whole situation, it was a mistake. I can’t hold that against myself forever. But a mistake is a mistake. You move past it. I’m not going to let situation frame me as a person or shape me as a person because I know who I am, and my team knows who I am.
