Jeremiah Kelly, an 18-year-old freshman offensive lineman at the University of Cincinnati, passed away unexpectedly at his off-campus residence in Ohio, leaving his parents heartbroken.

The news sudden passing was first publicly announced by Cincinnati Athletics on April 22, 2026.

The details surrounding his death have not been fully disclosed, but reports indicate that it was unexpected. Also, there has been no official confirmation of any prior health issue.

However, as per the set by his family, he passed away in his sleep.

His sudden passing has left a profound impact on the University of Cincinnati community and beyond.

The Cincinnati Bearcats’ football head coach, Scott Satterfield, expressed deep sorrow over Jeremiah’s passing and said:

The Bearcats football family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of this outstanding young man, In the short time Jeremiah has spent with our team, he has made a real impact, both on the field and in our locker room. My prayers are with the Kelly family and those who had the pleasure of knowing Jeremiah.

Additionally, the Bearcats football family expressed their heartbreak, highlighting his leadership and dedication during his brief time with the team.

UC Athletic Director John Cunningham also paid tribute to Kelly, saying:

We’ve suffered a heartbreaking loss today, All of us at UC send our love and prayers to the Kelly family and we will do everything that we can to support them and our Bearcats student-athletes in the difficult days and weeks ahead.

Jeremiah Kelly’s Parents Are Mourning His Loss Alongside The Cincinnati Bearcats Community!

Jeremiah Kelly, originally from Avon, Ohio, maintained privacy regarding his personal life, including details about his parents. It is likely due to his dedication to his career during his lifetime.

While information about them remains undisclosed, it is reasonable to believe that they played a supporting role in shaping his career. They must have provided guidance that influenced his path before his passing.

Regarding his early career, Kelly was a consensus three-star prospect and was regarded as one of Ohio’s Top 100 recruits.

He was ranked as the nation’s No. 44 guard prospect in his class by ESPN.

Recognized for his talent and potential, The Plain Dealer ranked him among Northeast Ohio’s Top 25 prospects.

During his high school career at Avon High School, he made a significant impact as an offensive lineman.

Kelly was a standout athlete from Avon, Ohio, who helped Avon High School achieve a 16-0 record and win the Ohio Division II state championship in 2026.

His efforts helped secure a hard-fought 20-13 victory in the OHSAA Division II State Championship Game, marking the school’s first-ever state title.

In addition to his standout senior season, Kelly played a key role in Avon’s 2026 campaign, which finished with a 14-1 record.

That year, he shared the field with Jakorion Caffey, now a running back for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.

His dominance on the field earned him first-team all-conference and all-district honors, along with the prestigious SWC Lineman of the Year title.

He was an early enrollee at Cincinnati and had participated in spring football practice, which concluded the week before his death.

Sadly, Kelly’s promising football journey was cut short with his sudden passing.
