Orán McConville, a talented young player from Drumgath GAC, tragically passed away in a car accident in County Down.
He was the front-seat passenger in a vehicle that crashed near Hilltown in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, an 18-year-old, was arrested following the incident.

Orán McConville excelled in Gaelic football, where he was a standout player for Drumgath GAC.
He contributed to multiple championship victories, including the under-17 and under-18 titles.
He also showcased his talent in soccer, representing St. Mark’s High School and helping his team win the South Down Cup.
Moreover, he was a bright light in his community and a dedicated athlete who contributed significantly to his club’s success over the years.
Orán’s achievements included being part of championship-winning teams and representing his school, St. Mark’s High School, with pride in Gaelic football and soccer.
Additionally, he was actively involved in sports coaching through his work with FunFit Sports, a local organization that provides coaching to schools in the area.
His contributions were highly valued, and the organization described it as “an absolute honor” to have him as part of their team.
His recent charity work in Kenya also left a lasting impression on those he met.
