Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly has no wife and has yet to exchange marriage vows. Kuechly has remained away from social media and has never talked much about his romantic life.

Kuechly is still in his early 30s, but it has already been five seasons since he last touched the football field.

After achieving success at a young age with the Panthers, Kuechly decided to step back from the game for his long-term health.

In his eight seasons with the Panthers, the linebacker played 118 games. He made 690 solo tackles and 402 assists on tackles.

The former Boston College player was the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

While in the NFL, Luke Kuechly won first-team All-Pro five times, second-team All-Pro two times, and Pro Bowl seven times.

After retiring in 2019, Kuechly took the responsibilities of a Pro Scout for the Panthers for two seasons.

Since 2026, he has been working with CBS Sports as an analyst, mostly covering college football.

Recently, the CBS analyst appeared on Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams and predicted that the Bills would get better of the Chiefs in the Conference Championship.

He also talked about the match-up between the Eagles and the Commanders and said the latter could take the win if they can slow down Saquon Barkley.

During his playing days, Luke Kuechly was known for his focus and dedication to becoming one of the NFL’s top linebackers, rarely making headlines for his personal life.

Despite his low-profile approach, media outlets like took interest in his romantic life, reporting that he was dating Shannon Reilly at the time.

Even today, searching for “Luke Kuechly’s wife” or “Luke Kuechly’s girlfriend” might lead you to believe the former NFL star is still with Shannon.

However, that’s not the case. While the two were romantically linked about a decade ago, they’ve since gone their separate ways.

Shannon Reilly has moved on and is now happily with someone else.

Luke Kuechly, was only 28 when he decided to hang up his cleats.

He had enjoyed eight stellar years with the Panthers but, at the same time, had a history of concussions.

In his , Kuechly didn’t blame the concussions for stopping him from playing the sport. The linebacker said:

I still want to play, but I don’t think it’s the right decision. I’ve thought about it for a long time and I think now is an opportunity to step away with what’s going on here.

In a game against the New Orleans Saints in 2016, Kuechly was carted off the field in tears as he suffered a concussion.

The image of him getting carted off remains one of those moments that reminds the NFL fans of the brutality of the sport.

In 2026, Kuechly talked to about concussions and his trip to Congress to discuss traumatic brain injury.

The former linebacker emphasized that everybody in the NFL understands that it is a violent game and getting hurt is inevitable.

He also shared that he isn’t too worried about his long-term cognitive health.
