Georgia State University Golf Student-Athlete Daniel Medellin’s Ultimate Demise Confirmed To Be By Suicide!

Daniel Medellin, a senior student and standout golfer at Georgia State University, tragically passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2026. His cause of death was confirmed to be suicide.

Born on May 1, 2003, and originally from Bogotá, Colombia, his passion for golf began from a young age.

Initially, he pursued his academic and athletic career at Clayton State University. He was then transferred to Georgia State University.

Medellin Was An Exceptional Member Of The Georgia State Men’s Golf Team!

Standing 5’9″, was not only an outstanding athlete but also a dedicated student and compassionate friend.

He transferred to Georgia State for the 2026-24 academic year and became a key player on the Georgia State Panthers men’s golf team.

During The Sharkey Tournament in February 2026, he led his team with an outstanding score of 68.

Moreover, he was known for his positive attitude, humble nature, and commitment to excellence both on and off the golf course.

His passing has deeply affected the Georgia State University community. Georgia State Men’s Golf Head Coach John Michal Cole recalled Daniel and his exceptional performance, stating,

Daniel exemplified what it means to be a Panther,His infectious smile, love for the game of golf and his process to chase the best will always be remembered.

Medellin’s parents are mourning the loss of their son. Likewise, the Panthers men’s golf team plans to dedicate their upcoming tournaments in his honor.

Also, a memorial service is being organized to commemorate his life and contributions.

Daniel Medellin’s 2026-2026 Golf Season Highlighted His Notable Achievements!

During the 2026-2026 season, Daniel Medellin showcased his dedication and talent in with a scoring average of 74.9.

, his notable performances included an 87th-place finish out of 87 participants with a score of +26 at the Furman Intercollegiate.

He also achieved an 11th-place finish out of 60 with a score of +6 at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.

Additionally, he finished 67th place out of 88 with a score of +13 at the JT Poston Invitational.

Lastly, he secured a 32nd-place finish out of 58 with a score of +2 at the Southern Dunes Invitational.

He was regarded as a rising star and a future standout player. But his untimely passing at such a young age left the men’s golf team with unfulfilled dreams and aspirations.
