Dallas Attorney Mike Howard Steps in as Karmelo Anthony’s Lawyer, Securing Bond Reduction From $1 Million to $250,000!

Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old, was arrested following the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, a former Frisco Wakeland High School football player, in a Frisco neighborhood.

Charged with the murder of 18-year-old Austin Metcalf in Frisco, Texas, Karmelo Anthony faced a $1 million bond.

Following the tragic incident, Anthony has been at the center of a legal battle that has drawn significant attention due to his defense team’s claim of self-defense.

Initially, Anthony was represented by attorneys Billy Clark and Kim T. Cole, both experienced in criminal defense.

Clark and Cole argued the case wasn’t a straightforward murder but rather an act of self-defense and sought to reduce his $1 million bond.

The attorneys emphasized Anthony’s clean record, his achievement as an honor roll student, and his role as a team captain.

In court, Cole stated,

This is a 17-year-old kid who has never been in trouble… We’re just asking that he be treated fairly.

Clark and Cole tried to reduce Anthony’s $1 million bond, arguing it was too high and unfair. They aimed to ensure Anthony had a fair trial.

However, just before an important bond hearing on April 14, 2026, Anthony’s legal team changed. Mike Howard, an experienced Dallas defense lawyer who specializes in criminal cases, took over from Clark and Cole.

Attorney Mike Howard Successfully Argued for a Reduction of Anthony’s Bond From $1 Million to $250,000!

While Dallas-based attorney came forward into the scene, the prime reasons for the switch were not publicly disclosed. However, mostly likely due to strategic shifts in legal defense.

Howard’s skill in handling tough legal cases made him a good choice to defend Anthony during an important time.

Mike Howard wasted no time in making an impact. At the April 14 bond hearing, he convinced the court to lower Anthony’s bond from $1 million to $250,000.

Although Anthony was released from the detention facility, he was placed under house arrest with strict rules, like wearing an ankle monitor.

Howard argued strongly for Anthony, saying he acted in self-defense and wasn’t likely to run away. He believed Anthony deserved to prepare for his case at home instead of staying in detention

As of April 17, 2026, Karmelo Anthony remains on house arrest, awaiting further court proceedings.

Meanwhile, Mike Howard’s role will be critical as the case progresses toward trial.
