The Lemont High School community is mourning the sudden loss of Mark Hollatz, a beloved business teacher and renowned coach who left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and athletes.

As the head coach of the boys’ golf team and girls’ bowling team, Hollatz was not only a mentor but a guiding light who inspired his athletes to achieve their personal bests.

His passing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving a legacy of dedication, passion, and success.

Mark Hollatz earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Lewis University in 1989 and later pursued his Master’s in Secondary Education from Olivet Nazarene University in 1993.

This educational background led to his successful career as a teacher and coach at Lemont High School.

Mark was part of , where he taught business classes and enthusiastically coached.

His athletic leadership was unique. He led his teams to numerous regional and sectional championships.

One of his most notable achievements was guiding his golf team to three IHSA Regional Crowns and one IHSA Sectional Title during the 2017 season.

Under his guidance, the golf team secured their 11th-team state finals berth by placing third at the Brother Rice Sectional in October.

In addition to his professional duties, Mark was a passionate golfer who enjoyed spending time on the course with friends.

His love for outdoor activities was evident in his approach to life. He always sought opportunities to connect with nature and enjoy the company of those around him.
