Love Island Connor Newsum, Once a High School Football Star, Inherits Biracial Roots From Parents Phil And Debi Of Spokane

Connor Newsum is making a return to the screen! The contestants from Love Island USA Season 6 are set to star in a brand-new spinoff series called Love Island: Beyond the Villa, coming to Peacock this summer.

While the original villa drama is behind them, Connor, alongside Miguel Harichi, Kenny Rodriguez, Kendall Washington, and Olivia Walker, are back for more.

Beyond the Villa follows everyone’s favorite, Connor, a former Lewis & Clark High School student-athlete in Spokane, Washington. He played as a defensive tackle (DT) wearing jersey #65.

He was a member of the Class of 2014 and was officially added to the school’s 2013 football roster on August 15, 2014.

In addition to football, Connor Newsum is also a talented track and endurance athlete.

He competed in events like the 2019 Santa Barbara Triathlon, where he was seen crossing the finish line on August 24, 2019, in Santa Barbara, California.

Connor Newsum Was Raised By Accomplished Parents Phil And Debi Newsum

Connor was born to Phil and Debi Newsum and grew up with his beloved sister, Jenika Newsum.

His father, Phil Newsum, has had a long and respected career in the commercial diving industry.

After graduating from the Divers Institute of Technology (DIT), he began his diving career with EPIC Divers and Marine in the Gulf of Mexico.

Later, he worked as an instructor at DIT and continued diving in the Pacific Northwest.

In 2005, Phil joined the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) and became its Executive Director in 2006.

He served on various national and international committees, including the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) and the Historical Diving Society USA.

He also chaired the International Diving Regulators and Certifiers Forum (IDRCF).

Further, Phil is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who has led dive operations for the Texas Military Department.

Similarly, Connor’s mother, Debi Newsum, is an experienced educator and currently serves as the Principal at Reardan High School.

When Connor Newsum shared a photo with his father, many fans wondered about his background.

With his father, Phil, appearing to be of Black heritage and his mother, Debi, being white, several followers noted that Connor is likely biracial.

At the same time, the surname Newsum is common among people of different racial backgrounds.

While it has English origins, it’s been used by both Black and white families, especially in the U.S., making it common among people of different heritages.
