Nathan Peterman is an American professional football player who plays in the National Football League (NFL). He signed with the Chicago Bears on May 11, 2026, but was released and signed to the practice squad on August 30, 2026.
Peterman started his professional career in 2017 after the Buffalo Bills chose him as that year’s draft’s 171st pick. Since his debut, Nathan has only appeared in ten top-tier league games.

He is the youngest son of Chuck and Dana Peterman. Besides them, he has two elder brothers in the family.

His father, Chuck, was a pastor and one of the founders of Creekside Christian Church, located just on the outskirts of their hometown.

High School & College Career
While attending high school at St. Jones, Nathan played football as a quarterback for the Bartram Trail Bears.
He was impressive from his first season and maintained his form right up to the end of high school.
As a senior, Nathan had 36 touchdowns. Consequently, he became a four-star recruit after his senior season.
Various university football teams called upon him, but he eventually chose to join the University of Tennessee in 2012.
However, he remained a redshirt freshman in 2012 and only made his appearance for the team the next year as a backup quarterback.
The Tennessee coach Butch Jones favored him over Justin Worley in later games, but he could only appear in four games that season because of injury.
After his second season with the Tennessee Volunteers did not go well as expected, he transferred to the University of Pittsburgh in 2015.
While with the Pittsburgh Panthers, he got more opportunities and, as a result, regained his strength back.
He played thirteen games each season in his third and final years with impressive stats, due to which he later became one of the five players from the Pittsburgh Panthers to get drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Buffalo Bills of the NFL chose Nathan Peterman as the 2017 draft’s 171st overall pick in the fifth round.
His performance in the last two college seasons and the 2017 Super Bowl was enough for him to secure a place in the league.
However, Peterman remained benched until the tenth week into the season and was only around five minutes on the field in his debut match against the New Orleans Saints.
