He began his coaching career as the assistant basketball coach of Skyline High School in 2000.

He also served as the head basketball coach of Thomas Jefferson High School, A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School, Bryan Adams High School, and South Garland High School.

Alongside his coaching career, Tyrone also guided his son Tyrese in his basketball journey and helped him become a renowned NBA player.

While his mother, Denyse Maxey, didn’t play any sports, she supported Tyrese through all his good and bad times.

She has been working in the healthcare industry since 1998 and graduated from Sam Houston State University.
