Peter Laviolette, a renowned NHL head coach and the guiding force behind the New York Rangers, boasts an impressive track record, including multiple appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Beyond his celebrated professional accomplishments, his personal life shines just as brightly, particularly his enduring and inspiring partnership with his wife, Kristen Laviolette.

Kristen Laviolette was born in Norfolk, Massachusetts, on July 10, 1975. She grew up in a close-knit family raised by her parents, Bill Hasenfus and Anne M. Carchedi.

Kristen has two brothers, Paul and Billy Hasenfus, with whom she shares a close bond. Her background in Massachusetts established a strong appreciation for sports and community.

Kristen International Air Academy, where she entered the airline industry. She worked for Delta Airlines, earning experience in customer service and operations.

Peter Laviolette And Kristen Married In 1996 And Raised Three Accomplished Children

It all began in the most unexpected of places: Boston Airport. At the time, Peter was coaching the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Their first encounter had a touch of surprise when Peter found the courage to ask Kristen for her phone number; instead, she did the opposite and gave him hers.

The scene was now set for their love story to blossom.

After six months of dating, Peter proposed to Kristen, and they celebrated their wedding in June 1996 at her parents’ home in New England.

The couple’s wedding was a joyous occasion that 250 guests attended, showcasing how much they value family and friends.

Peter and Kristen have built a wonderful family. They have three kids: Peter Laviolette II, Jack Laviolette, and Elisabeth Laviolette.

The oldest son, Peter II, followed his father to become a hockey player. Currently, he plays for the of the ECHL.

Jack played hockey for several years, starting at Proctor Academy in 2015-16 and later at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he played for two seasons before retiring. He was the ACHA II champion in 2018-2019.

In addition, Elisabeth has also left her marks: Elisabeth studied at Boston College, graduating in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She was also on the Boston College softball team and worked as a data operator and lab operations staff member with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Kristen has been a rock in Peter and their children’s lives as she juggled professional duties to support her kids’ love for athletics.

Her involvement became particularly notable like Hockey Fights Cancer 2.0 in 2017, which showed her commitment to community causes.

Kristen Has Been A Strong Wife Through All Of The New Challenges

The Laviolette family is based in Longboat Key, Florida, and they maintain a regular family life with a challenging coaching career.

Kristen has been a strong wife through all the changes within the teams, though being the spouse of an NHL coach can mean putting up with extensive traveling and long hours away from each other.

In interviews, Peter often speaks of Kristen’s support. He says her views and opinions are very important in his coaching decision-making processes.

Their partnership is a model of mutual respect and understanding in both personal and professional spheres.

Kristen is still crucially important as Peter pursues his career with the New York Rangers despite the team’s recent struggles.

His coaching position in the team is reportedly hanging in the balance due to dismal performances this season.
