Beloved NJ Hockey Coach David William Hansen Dies at 52, Leaving Behind His Wife, Bridget, and Four Kids!

David William Hansen passed away on March 4, 2026, at 52. He is survived by his wife, Bridget, and their four children Abby, Brody, Cameron, and Lexi.

Before his passing, David William Hansen was in a challenging medical condition on February 26, 2026. He had undergone an emergency craniotomy to remove swelling on his brain as, despite his weak heart, the surgery was necessary.

Bridget, his beloved wife, stood like a rock through all this. David was placed on life support, and efforts to wean him off the ventilator weren’t successful and he remained on life support.

In fact, anyone who spoke to or saw Bridget was amazed by her resilience and ability to collect all her overwhelmed emotions at that time.

The Hockey coach and his beloved wife, , attended and graduated from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire.

Given this fact, the couple must have first crossed paths at the university, and so their relationship blossomed into marriage. However, details surrounding their relationship timeline remain unknown.

Bridget Hansen was a senior talent acquisition partner at CardWorks for three years, from October 2026 to September 2026.

She graduated from New England College with a Bachelor of Arts and Communications.

David and his wife, Bridget, were proud parents of four kids. Meanwhile, their children, Abby, , , and Lexi, stay away from the spotlight.

They enjoyed quality family time, as evident through their social media posts, which gave a glimpse of their lives.

Above all, anyone who knew David knew how much he loved Bridget with all his entire being.

As a true provider, David always sought to give his family everything they needed. He encouraged his children in both their educational and athletic pursuits.

David also enjoyed spending time at the family’s “Beach House” in Point Pleasant. In 2009, they visited several places, including Mickey’s ToonTown.

David William Hansen, a Decorated Hockey Coach, Is Mourned by His Family!

David William Hansen was born on March 28, 1972, to parents Arthur and JoAnn Hansen in Chatham Township, New Jersey.

David was the proud owner of Dave’s Lawn Care for many years, a business that connected him to countless people throughout the Chatham community.

Beyond his work, he mentored many young people, especially those fortunate enough to be coached by him.

David drew on his experiences on and off the ice to guide and inspire the next generation of players.

When not at the hockey rink, David could be found outdoors, whether tending to landscaping, walking his beloved dog, Charlie, or cheering on his children at their games.

In addition to his wife and kids, he leaves behind his two sisters, Donna Bazyk (William) and Doreen Kolster (Glenn), his mother-in-law, Wendy Murphy; his sister-in-law, , and his brothers-in-law, Ryan Murphy (Sarah) and (Susie).

Likewise, Hansen was a great uncle to his nine nieces and nephews: Billy, Morgan, Jacob, Caitlyn, Beckett, Dalton, William, Maximus, Riley, and Haley.

Hansen’s visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 7, at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A funeral mass will follow at noon at the church. Cremation services will be private for the family.
