Former Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano and his partner Franc D’Ambrosio have never shared whether they have legally tied the knot. They have tried to keep their relationship low-key and appear occasionally on each other’s social media handles.
Boitano, 62, began his skating career as a child and achieved early success.
In 1978, at age 15, Boitano won a gold medal at the Junior US Championship and that same year, won the bronze medal at the World Junior Figure Skating Championship.
The won his only Olympic gold medal at the 1988 Calgary, making history as the first Olympic champion to land the full complement of six types of triple jumps.
Boitano followed his Olympic victory with a gold medal at the 1988 Budapest World Championships.
He dominated competitions in the professional ranks in the years to come and secured a spot in the US’s 1994 Olympic team.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t replicate the 1988 success as he got knocked out of medal contention after failing to land a triple Axel combination, costing him major points.
The American skater retired that year and was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame and the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame two years later.

The couple organized the fundraiser at their Bay Area home on March 18, 2026.
Franc D’Ambrosio, a graduate of the Patchogue-Medford Class of 1981, became famous for his role as The Iron Man of the Mask in the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera.
D’Ambrosio has received an Oscar nomination, an Emmy nomination, four Tony nominations, and two Grammy nominations.
The talented Broadway actor has also received a knighthood granted by Italy’s president.
In December 2013, the Olympic gold medalist Brian Before he came out publicly, the figure skater had been announced as one of the US delegates for the Sochi Olympics.
In the statement released by Boitano, the figure skater said,
I have always reserved my private life for my family and friends and will continue to do so. I am many things: a son, a brother, and uncle, a friend, an athlete, a cook, an author, and being gay is just one part of who I am.
At the time, having Brian as one of the US delegates was seen as a move from then-President Barack Obama to criticize Russia’s treatment of gays and lesbians.
A month later, in an interview with , Brian said he never intended to reveal himself as gay.
The decision came after President Obama chose him as one of the US delegates.
Brian Boitano and His Partner Franc D’Ambrosio Are Parents to Their Fur Baby Hunter!
Brian and Franc have been together for 27 years but have never revealed whether they are married.
Though they do not have biological kids, the two highly talented individuals are parents to an American Cocker spaniel named Hunter.
They’ve created an for Hunter, sharing pictures of three traveling and visiting new places.
In May 2026, Hunter made headlines as Veterinary cured his cancer.
D’Ambrosio noticed an abnormality while performing a routine anal sac expression.
The couple then took Hunter to their veterinarian, who diagnosed apocrine gland anal sac adenocarcinoma.
The pair were prepared to do anything and travel anywhere to get Hunter fully cured.
Brian and Franc’s close friends put them in touch with UC Davis’ Dr. Michael Kent.
Dr. Kent conferred with Dr. Bill Cup, who then performed surgical procedures on under and helped him recover without complication.
Later, in June, Boitano served as the Master of Ceremonies for the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s 75th Anniversary Gala.
Boitano and D’Ambrosio donated a dinner and a personal concert to the event’s auction.
