Philadelphia Rapper Gillie Da Kid Says Late Basketball Star Noah Scurry Took His Son YNG Cheese’s Life

In his latest appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Philadelphia rapper Gillie Da Kid revealed some details about his son’s death and its connection to late basketball star Noah Scurry.

Fully decked in Eagles’ green, the North Philly native Gillie Da Kid, whose real name is Nasir Fard, rejoiced in his team’s Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

A Philly legend, hip-hop icon, and media personality, Gillie Da Kid emerged in the Philadelphia underground rap scene in the late 1990s with the group Major Figgas.

He is also the host of the podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game, which releases new episodes every week on Barstool Sports.

An Eagles fan through and through, Gillie is usually seen rocking an oversized Eagles and has made several appearances in the Eagels’ locker room.

On January 27, Gillie was seen celebrating with the after they defeated the Washington Commanders in the NFL Conference Championship.

In his appearance in Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, the Philly rapper touched on several subjects, including his passion for the sport, misunderstandings with Lil Wayne, rap beef between Drake and Kendrick, and his son’s death.

Gillie Da Kid Reveals His Son YNG Cheese’s Murderer

Rapper Gillie Da Kid’s son, Devin Spady, aka YNG Cheese, was murdered in a triple shooting in July 2026.

Police say Spady was shot in the back and ran from the scene but collapsed a block away. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At the time of his demise, YNG Cheese was only 25. He was an up-and-coming rapper trying to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Gillie had previously in the “The Pivot Podcast,” in 2026.

Speaking to former NFL players Channing Crowder, Fred Taylor, and Ryan Clark, Gillie shared the moment he had to see his son’s dead body.

The rapper said, “The worst time had to be when I had to wash his body. That was the worst, but it was also the best because I became a man that day.”

“When I washed my son’s body, it was a gift and a curse. It was a good thing and a bad thing because it was a very painful thing to see your son laying there cold and stiff, but I know I sent him off right,” he continued.

On February 12, 2026, during his, Gillie revealed that basketball star Noah Scurry was behind his son’s death.

The conversation about Gillie’s son began after Sharpe asked the rapper if he had ever talked to the kid who took his son’s life. The Philly legend said,

Nah I never met him. Only reason I knew is because the police called me and told me once he was murdered. Cause the kid had just got shot 17 times he was walking with his mom and he got murdered and then the police notified me and let me know that he was one of the kids that was pretty much about to get locked up for the murder, but he got murdered first.”

Gillie further said, “He had to deal with God. That’s how I look at it.”

Shannon and Gillie talked about gun violence in Philadelphia and compared it to that in New York.

The rapper and the former footballer agreed that gun laws are stricter in New York and gun violence perpetrators are locked up for a minute in New York compared to Philadelphia, where they return home without any repercussions.

“These kids are influenced by all the wrong things…These kids actually think that you can’t make it as a rapper unless you k*lled somebody. This is the mindset,” said Gillie.

Who Was Noah Scurry? The Late Basketball Star And Murderer of Gillie Da Kid’s Son

The 17-year-old basketball talent Noah Scurry was part of the Samuel Fels basketball team.

Scurry died on January 14, 2026, after being shot multiple times on his way to school with his mother.

, Scurry was found shot on the 5000 block of Rorer Street, near Tacony Creek Park and Roosevelt Boulevard, around 7:15 a.m.

Scurry was the school’s highest scorer on the SAT and a star player on his basketball team.

Monique Braxton, a spokesperson for the School District of Philadelphia, said,

This is unimaginable for them. The student was getting in the car with his mom this morning in the back of his home, and he was shot and killed. This student was about to graduate. He probably would’ve had offers to play basketball at colleges across the country. And you know, it’s just a life senselessly cut short.

The captain of his basketball team, Scurry, had played five games in his senior year before his death.

He averaged 15 points, 1.2 assists, and 2.4 assists in his final season.

Alongside being academically and athletically gifted, Noah also loved rapping and went by the stage name “JokerOTV.”

Just 24 hours before being shot to death, of him rapping while wearing a Joker mask and holding guns.

The video showed other individuals dancing alongside him, also holding and showing off guns.

Previously, Gillie claimed to ghostwrite for Lil Wayne, which put him into the national spotlight. Cash Money has since denied Gillie was a ghostwriter for Lil Wayne on his 2004 album.
The murderers of Noah Scurry are yet to be identified. Police had previously recovered a white Jeep Grand Cherokee matching the description of the vehicle seen in surveillance video leading to the murder scene.
