Promising Young Athlete Josue Curiel Passes Away at 22, Leaving His Parents Loved Ones Heartbroken

Josue Curiel, 22, of Perry, Iowa, tragically passed away due to a rollover automobile accident on January 24, 2026.
The accident occurred around 2:31 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 141 and R Avenue near Woodward, Iowa.
According to a statement by , deputies arrived at the site of a single-vehicle accident.
They found Josue dead in his 2005 Chevy Impala, which had crashed into a power pole and rolled over several times.
The reason for the accident is unknown, and his body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for further examination.
Josue Curiel’s Parents Are Heartbroken Over The Loss Of Their Son
Josue Curiel was born to Felipe Curiel Castillo and Yolanda Sanchez.
His father comes from Des Moines, Iowa, whereas his mother is from Guachinango, Jalisco, Mexico.
The family is currently based in Perry, Iowa.
Josue’s friends and family remember him as lively and enthusiastic about grappling, frequently having moments of laughter with friends while engaging in sparring sessions.
The community has been left in deep suffering after hearing the news of Josue’s death.
Friends have taken to social media to express their sadness and memories.
One of the friends posted an emotional tribute in the form of a video of them sparring together, saying:-
“Still didn’t believe it when I heard it. Rest easy Grappler. Will always remember our sparing matches together 🙏”
ViaAnother friend posted an emotional message about their friendship:-
“RIP to my lil homie Josue Curiel you had everything going for you bro this shit breaks my heart so much man you were one of my only friends and now I’m gonna miss you forever broski fly high man I’ll be up there wit ya soon 😭 I love you and miss you so much man.”
ViaJosue Curiel’s parents are extremely grief-stricken due to the demise of their son.
They haven’t spoken a word to the world regarding the accident since they are grieving internally.
Felipe Curiel Castillo had reposted the photo on Facebook regarding his son’s demise.
The Facebook page “Deaths in Guachinango” has shared heartfelt condolences, expressing their sorrow and support during this difficult time, stating-:
“We unite in prayer for the sense of passing of Josué Curiel Sanchez son of Felipe Curiel Castillo and Yolanda Sanchez, nephew of Juan Sanchez (deer) he liked to come to Guachi parties, may the Lord receive him in his kingdom.”
