Former NBA player Allison Sharlene Feaster was born February 11, 1976, in Chester, South Carolina, to parents William Preston Feaster III and Sandra Feaster.
Born in Chester, South Carolina, grew up in a household where her mother raised her and her siblings as a single parent.
Reportedly, her father, William Preston Feaster III, and her mother, Sandra Feaster, separated when Allison was in fifth grade, leaving Sandra to raise Allison and her three siblings on her own.
Growing up in rural Carlisle, South Carolina, in addition to her mother, Allison spent time with her great-grandparents, Bessie and Preston Feaster.
Whereas, details of her father, William Preston Feaster III, aren’t available. Above all, Allison hasn’t acknowledged him in any events or social media posts.
Allison Feaster Attributes Her Career Success to Her Mother!
Sandra did everything in her power to provide for Allison and her siblings: her sister, Sandi G. Feaster, and her two brothers, William P. “Bill” Feaster IV and Terrence J. Feaster.
Returning to college herself during the separation, Sandra prioritized the importance of academics to her children.
Given her sacrifices, Allison has often credited her mother and is grateful for everything that she has become and she has yet to be.
Allison reflected on her mother’s sacrifices to ensure they had a sound life in an interview in The Undefeated:
My mom had to work so hard. She worked hard and by herself.
Sandra’s focus on education led Allison to graduate as valedictorian of her class at Chester High School.
“My mother, my role model, first convinced me that I could succeed at anything if I gave my best,” Feaster said in a speech for the Harvard Varsity Club.
It was Sandra’s motivation that led her to turn down athletic scholarships from powerhouse programs like Duke, opting instead for Harvard, where she could shape her own academic and athletic path.
