Moreover, there is no information indicating that he is currently hospitalized.

According to the reports, he is resting and in good spirits but will be away from the team for a certain period of time.

However, there is no official update regarding the timeline of his return to the team.

Assistant coach Mitch Johnson highlighted Gregg’s impact on the team and stated,

He’ll be OK, and we can’t wait to have him back…

Gregg Popovich Has Faced Several Health Challenges Over The Years

Popovich underwent two heart processes in 2015, which caused him to miss several games during the 2014/15 NBA season.

Additionally, in 2014,  that required a certain time for recovery.

Besides these major medical interventions, there have been other minor health episodes.

Despite these challenges, he has generally recovered quickly and returned to coaching.

In the past, whenever Gregg Popovich was unavailable due to medical conditions or other reasons, the team relied on their assistant coaches.

Notably, assistant coach Mitch Johnson has previously served as the interim head coach during Popovich’s absences.

For instance, when Popovich was unavailable, Johnson briefly led the team during the 2026-2026 season.

Additionally, former assistant coaches Tim Duncan and Becky Hammon have also taken on head coaching duties in his absence over the past five seasons.

This time also, Assistant Coach Mitch Johnson will lead the team again.
