Manny Machado and his wife, Yainee Alonso, have been married since 2014.
The San Diego Padres’ third baseman, and Yainee Alonso began dating in 2011 and celebrated their love with a romantic wedding in December 2014 at the Château de Challain in France.
Their relationship has taken them across the country, from Machado’s time with the Los Angeles Dodgers to their current home in San Diego.
In 2019, Machado made history by signing a 10-year, $300 million deal with the Padres, the largest free-agent contract ever at the time.
Throughout his career, Alonso has been a steadfast source of support.
Although the couple keeps much of their personal life private, one thing is evident–Alonso’s consistent support for her husband.
Yainee Alonso Was Born In Cuba To A Baseball-Loving Family
Born in Havana, Cuba, is the daughter of Luis and Damaris Alonso.
Her father was a player and coach for Industriales of the Cuban National Series.
In 1996, the family defected to the United States, settling in Miami.
Her father’s love for baseball influenced her brother, Yonder.
Yonder later joined MLB and played for teams like the Cincinnati Reds and the San Diego Padres.
He announced his retirement in November 2026 and expressed gratitude for his family, mentioning Yainee and Machado.
“I do want to take this opportunity and thank my FAMILY – Mom, Papi, Sis, Manny, Pete. You guys are what made me. I love you guys! I’ll try my best to keep it short and sweet, but those who know me know I can get emotional with this stuff. I can’t thank all you guys enough.”

The two baseball players met in 2009 when Machado was a teenager.
Ultimately, in 2011, after a trip to Spain with Yainee and Yonder, Machado Yonder’s permission to date his sister.
Yonder recalled,
“I told him, ‘Look, as long as you respect her and be there for her. And whatever happens, just know if something happens between you guys we’re still friends. We were friends before, and we’ll be friends afterward.'”

Manny Machado admitted to USA Today that he was “a mess” and struggling to get the ring out of his pocket.
“I was a mess. I was struggling to get the ring out. It was stuck in my pocket.”

“He’s on his knees and talking, saying sweet things, and I didn’t even hear him propose. Guys think that it’s like the movies, the woman says yes automatically. But you are so in shock. I finally said yes, but then I asked him to ask me again because I didn’t hear him.”

Following the conclusion of his 2018 season with the Dodgers, he posted a heartfelt photo with her on the field, stating he could not have done “” without her by his side.

However, despite their public appearances, Machado and Alonso prefer a quieter lifestyle.
Speaking to USA Today, Manny Machado stated that he and his wife were “boring” people and they do not really let anyone in.
“People think, ‘Oh, you’re a big-leaguer, you live in Miami, you can probably go to any club you want.’ The truth is that we are boring. We don’t really let people in. We’ve got a very close circle, and that’s it.”
