The South Carolina tight ends coach, Shawn Elliott, has a net worth of $2.5 million. Elliott has resigned from a head coach position to return to South Carolina. 

Shawn Elliott has called South Carolina for a large part of his life. A native of Camden, South Carolina, Elliott coached as offensive line coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2010 to 2016.

He accepted the head coach role at Georgia State in 2017, and in his seven seasons, they accumulated a 41-44 record. They also reached five bowl games during this time. 

Georgia State has named strength coach Mike  Sirignano as their interim head coach. His current deal with South Carolina is reportedly three years, with Shawn making $750k in his first two seasons and $775k in his third season.

The former Georgia State coach, Shawn Elliott, has an estimated net worth of $2.5 million. A defensive end in his heyday at Appalachian State, Elliott’s coaching journey began in 1997 with Appalachian.

In his first two seasons, he worked as a defensive assistant, and then for two seasons, he worked as a tight ends coach. He took over as the offensive line coach in 2001 and remained in the same position until 2009.

In 2010, Elliott joined South Carolina, where he spent the next seven seasons. He started in South Carolina as an offensive line coach/running game coordinator. 

In his first year at South Carolina, Coach Elliott was offered $158k and the following season, he made $188k. In 2012, he was promoted to co-offensive coordinator and served in the position until 2015.

During this time, Shawn’s salary increased steadily, as he made above $300k in 2012 and 2013 and over $400k in 2014 and 2015. In the 2015 season, Shawn had to take up the role of interim head coach for the final six games as Steve Spurrier resigned from his position.

In his last season with South Carolina, Shawn bagged $500k as the offensive line coach. After spending seven seasons with South Carolina, Shawn was offered the head coach role at Georgia State. 

He initially signed a three-year contract worth nearly $2 million. Shawn extended his contract in 2026, keeping him in Georgia until the 2026 season. He was paid $660k in 2026, $779k in 2026, $809k in 2026, and $811k in 2026. 

In 2026, he was the 97th highest-paid coach in the country and the seventh-highest-paid coach in the Sun Belt. 

Why Did Shawn Elliott Resign From The Head Coach Position?

From the statement shared by Coach Elliott, it looks like he left the job because of personal reasons. He resigned from his position on Thursday, and his statement was posted to GeorgiaStateSports.com.

Elliott’s read, “It’s extremely difficult to step away from the Georgia State football program, particularly the players and staff who have gone above and beyond.”

He further wrote, “As hard as this decision is professional, it’s something I must do personally.” He thanked Charlie Cobbs, Director of Athletics at Georgia State, for giving him the opportunity. 

Many fans of the South Carolina Gamecocks have reported that Shawn’s family was still living in Columbia, South Carolina. The fans also confirmed they would run into Shawn several times for a guy coaching in Georgia.
