Summer Kennard, a 20-year-old volleyball star from Willard High School, passed away in a car accident on US Route 42 in Morrow County, Ohio.
This tragic accident occurred early on Monday, February 3, 2026, around 5:30 a.m.
Summer was driving east when her 2010 Toyota RAV4 car went off the right side of the road.
While trying to re-enter, she overcorrected and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
in Mount Gilead, Ohio, but sadly, she didn’t survive.
The other victim in the accident was the driver of the Ford F-150, a 63-year-old man from Galion, Ohio.
He was taken to Morrow County Hospital with minor injuries and is expected to recover.
Summer Was Known For Her Exceptional Skills And Dedication To The Sport!
at Willard High School in Ohio.
She played as a key player in both the junior varsity and varsity teams, earning recognition for her performance on the court.
Her demonstrated her talent and contributions to the team.
Additionally, she was a part-time police officer. She worked for both the Bellville and Butler police departments in Richland County, Ohio.
She joined the force just over six months ago and had already significantly impacted her community.
Regarding her work, Summer was off-duty at the time of the accident. She was not on duty as a police officer when the crash occurred.
The entire community is mourning her loss, and thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

It is with great sadness to inform you that the Bellville Police Department lost an outstanding officer. Officer Summer Kennard tragically passed away on February 3, 2026, in a vehicle accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Kennard’s Family and Friends. She will always remain in our hearts and minds here within the Department
