The Former WNBA Star Tina Thompson Never Made Damon Jones Her Husband But The Two Share A Son

Former Seattle Storm player Tina Thompson has no husband but was in a long-term relationship with former NBA player Damon Jones. Thompson and Jones share a son who is looking forward to making his mark in the NBA.

As a forward, Tina Thompson averaged 19.7 points, 10.2 total rebounds, and 1.3 assists in her four years at USC.

The Houston Comets drafted Thompson as the no.1 overall pick of the 1997 WNBA Draft, the first season of the WNBA.

Tina and the Comets won the first four championships of the WNBA. She played for the Comets until 2008 after which the team disbanded due to the great recession during which they couldn’t find new ownership.

Thompson joined the Los Angeles Sparks in 2009 and ended her WNBA career with the Seattle Storm in 2013.

While playing in the WNBA, Thompson also played for overseas teams, including teams in countries like Russia, Romania, and South Korea.

Since retirement, Thompson has focused on her coaching career. Her last job was with the Virginia Cavaliers, where she was the head coach from 2018 to 2026.

Tina Thompson And Damon Jones Never Tied The Knot

Tina Thompson remains unmarried and has no husband. She and former NBA star Damon Jones were in a relationship during the early 2000s.

Thompson has never shared about her relationship with Jones publicly and has never posted any pictures with him.

In her 2013 interview with , Tina confirmed that her son, Dyllan’s biological dad, is Damon Jones.

Thompson also mentioned that she is Dyllan’s primary caregiver, so the couple might not have had an amicable breakup.

Damon Jones played three years at the University of Houston, averaging 12.9 points, 4 total rebounds, and 3.9 assists.

Tina Thompson Never Made Damon Jones Her Husband Despite The Two Sharing A Child

Jones went undrafted in the 1997 NBA class and played one season with IBA team Black Hills Posse.

His first NBA team was the New Jersey Nets in 1999, and within one year, he played for the Nets, the Celtics, the Warriors, and the Mavericks.

It was only in 2005 that Jones finally settled with one team. The Cavaliers offered Jones a four-year, $16.1 million contract.

He played for three seasons at the Cavaliers, and although he was traded to the Bucks in 2008, Jones didn’t play a single game for them.

Damon retired from basketball in 2012, with the G-league team Stockton Kings being his last team.

He returned to Cleveland in 2014 as an assistant coach and was part of the iconic 2016 NBA Championship team.

Tina Thompson Shares A Strong Bond With Her Son Dyllan Thompson

Born on May 12, 2005, Dyllan Thompson is the only child of the former WNBA star.

Dyllan has followed in his parents’ footsteps and decided to take his basketball talent to Georgia Tech earlier this year.

Before joining , Dyllan attended Second Baptist School in Houston in his junior and senior years.

In his senior year, Dyllan led his team in scoring, averaging 18 points per game with 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Standing at 6’7, Dyllan is a combo of guard and forward and previously made the all-tournament team for the Texas Association of Private.

In her 2013 ESPN interview, Tina shared that her son cried after she told him she was about to retire after this season.

On Instagram, Tina has shared several appreciation posts for her son. Earlier this year, the proud mom shared and of her son graduating from high school.

She also reposted her announcing he was committing his future to Georgia Tech.

Recently, Tina shared a cute video of her son practicing before a game with his Georgia Tech team.

In the video, Dyllan is seen mouthing, “Where my Momma at?” with his eyes wandering around the McCamish Pavilion.

Tina’s older brother, Tommy Thompson Jr., introduced her to basketball, and she would play with him and his friends at Robertson Park.
