Tyler George’s love and passion for the sport commenced as a child. Even at an early age, he appeared at the United States Junior National Championships. He had played in that competition several times but never made it past the semifinals.
It was in 2001 when he became part of the medal. He played in Andy Roza’s team and bagged bronze at the 2001 World Junior Curling Championships. He became a part of the mixed team with Gary Luke, Shellan Reed, and Patti Luke the next year.

It was the year 2008 when Tyler commenced his early men’s career through the Men’s National Championship. He again partook in the same event the next year with George’s team.
The following season 2009-10, Tyler led the team Pete Fenson, where they bagged the 2010 United States Men’s Championship. Indeed, this particular game opened the door for Tyler to step into Men’s Worlds representing the United States.
Following it, he partook in the 2010 World Men’s Championship, which was held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The team placed fourth in the Championship. So, after the season, he left the team to form one of his own.
He formed his team alongside Chris Plys, Rich Ruohonen, and Phill Drobnick. Together, they first played in the 2011 U.S. Nationals; however, the team Fenson defeated them in a single round.
They managed to bag the silver medal in the end. Right after the Nationals game, they partook again in the 2012 U.S. Nationals and thus, ended in eighth place. Moving on, in the next year’s match at the 2013 National Championship, Tyler and his team bagged silver on it.
Likewise, their next year’s match at the 2014 United States Olympic Curling Trials saw them finish third.
Team Shuster and Beyond
In the year 2014, Tyler George missed the High-Performance Program (HPP) held by the United States Curling Association. During the event, the HPP dropped the three-time Olympian, .
In addition to that, this led him to create a new team nicknamed “The Rejects,” which included George and others (John Landsteiner and ). The team stayed on a similar line-up for four seasons and maintained themselves on the journey of success.
Moving on, the team later represented the United States at the 2015 World Championship held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They were then added to the 2016 High-Performance Program right after their performance.
In the year 2016, the team Shuster did have a failed attempt in the finals; however, they still managed to secure enough points for the World Championship. The same year, they also bagged their foremost World Men’s medal for the United States since 2007.
They defeated the Japanese team to earn the bronze medal in Basel, Switzerland. Afterward, they bagged the 2017 National Championship.
In the meantime, the team also paved the way to their first-ever journey to the Olympics through the 2017 United States Olympic Curling Trials.
