American and writer Scott Braden Cawthon is most known for developing the survival horror game series Five Nights at Freddy’s, which grew into a media brand.

Cawthon started his career making family and Christian video games. After the original Five Nights at Freddy’s game became a financial success and developed a cult following in 2014, he switched to survival horror.

As of 2026, Cawthon had created four spin-off games and seven titles in the core series.

In addition to the games, Cawthon penned several storylines for the franchise, including the script for the 2026 movie and the 2015 book The Silver Eyes.
