William Roberts III’s mother, Tia Kemp, couldn’t hide her happiness after William committed to Bethune-Cookman University.

His mother expressed her excitement in Instagram “COMMITTED,” Kemp captioned the post. “Let’s go, WILDCATS!! GOD IS THE GREATEST!!“

Roberts III, a talented offensive lineman, recently announced on X that he has orally committed to play at Bethune-Cookman University, a Historically Black College and University (also referred to as an HBCU).

He made his mark in varsity football at St. Thomas Aquinas, a Fort Lauderdale high school, where he played since his freshman year.

His contributions on the offensive line were instrumental in securing the team’s fourth and fifth consecutive state titles, establishing a state record for the Raiders.

The Miami Herald recognized Roberts as third-team All-County in Classes 4M and 3M during the recent season.

The offensive lineman’s journey to success began in 2026 when he received offers from various Division I college football teams.

Among the notable institutions extending offers were the University of Miami, Texas A&M University, University of Colorado, Syracuse University, and Florida International University. Albany State University, another HBCU located in Southwest Georgia, also presented an offer.

Interestingly, Albany State is where Roberts III’s father, Ross, pursued a football scholarship before venturing into the music industry.

Dad Rick Ross Is William’s Inspiration

William Roberts III’s dad, Rick Ross, is an American Rapper and record executive who has significantly impacted modern hip-hop music.

Rick Ross is recognized for his commanding vocal delivery, larger-than-life persona, and vivid lyrical imagery.

William Leonard Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, was born on January 28, 1976, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and raised in Carol City, Florida.

He completed his education at Miami Carol City Senior High School. Before venturing into music, Rick Ross was an amazing football player.

His talent and skill got him into a football scholarship at the historically black college Albany State University, where his son is now committed.

However his football career didn;t last long and he was much more into music than a football.

During his early years at Suave House Records, he initially entered the music scene under the pseudonym Teflon Da Don.

Rick Ross made his recording debut on the track “Ain’t Shhh to Discuss,” featured on Erick Sermon’s album “Def Squad Presents Erick Onasis,” released by DreamWorks.

Though he didn’t pursue a career in football, he has managed to pass his interest in football to his kids, especially William III.
