Adam Beckman’s father, Dale Beckman, was admitted to the hospital after he suffered from pneumonia.
An Islanders AHL player, Adam Beckman, was for 10 games on Wednesday, April 9, 2026, for physically abusing an official after an incident during an April 5 game.
Beckman skated directly into a referee during a game against the Charlotte Checkers and shoved him, sending the official flying into the boards before he was down on the ice, clearly in pain.
Luckily, the referee eventually rose under his power and continued the game.
The incident, however, earned Beckman the ban, which means he will of the current AHL season and the first five games of next season.
It seemed that Adam was distracted when he collided with the referee, and he appeared apologetic after he saw that he had shoved the official.
Adam joined the Islanders organization by trade with the Devils earlier this year. In the 12 games since the deal, he has hit four goals and seven points with Bridgeport.
He was the Wild’s third-round pick in 2019 and has made 23 NHL appearances, all with Minnesota.
Adam Beckman’s Parents Have Stayed Silent Regarding His Suspension
The Bridgeport Islanders’ winger, Adam Beckman’s parents, and Janet Beckman have supported him since childhood in achieving his ice hockey dreams.
His family originates from Canada, holding Canadian nationality and identifying as white.

When Adam was five, Janet and Dale signed him up to play organized for the first time.
In addition, Dale built a court in their backyard so his kids could play hockey in the winter months. Adam’s parents were amazed looking towards his interest in ice hockey.
During one of the , Adam’s mother, Janet, said,
“He would always be out there. We never had to say, ‘Go out there and practice,’” “It was hard to get him off the ice.”
Following Adam’s recent suspension from the AHL for ten games, his parents have stayed quiet regarding the incident.
Winger Adam Beckman’s Sister Sydney Also Played Ice Hockey
Adam Beckman has one elder sister, Sydney Beckman, 30, born on July 23, 1995, in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.
She is a former who played for Saskatchewan’s elite girls’ hockey team. Standing 5 feet 4 inches and weighing 126 pounds, she played as a right-handed shooter.
Sydney started her competitive career with the Notre Dame Hounds in the 2011-12 season, splitting time between the SFMAAAHL and the SSFHL.
In SFMAAAHL, she appeared in six games and contributed three assists. However, in the SSFHL, she recorded 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points over 27 games.
She joined the Price Albert Bears in the SFMAAAHL in the 2012-13 season. Throughout 28 games, she added a goal and two assists to her career totals.

In addition, Adam has four cousins: Collin Shirley, Grace Shirley, Sophie, and Ben Heidt.
Collin, Adam’s elder by five years, of major junior hockey for Kootenay and Kamloops of the Western Hockey League before playing three seasons at the University of Saskatchewan.

- In the summer of 2026, Beckman was invited to participate in Team Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Development Camp.
- On June 21, 2026, Beckman was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Graeme Clarke. In the following 2026-25 season, the Devils assigned Beckman to the AHL to play with their affiliate, the Utica Comets.
- Following the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Beckman participated in their training camp and was selected to play in the CHL Canada/Russia Series.
